Capital (“H.I.G.”), a leading global private equity investment firm with $19 billion of equity capital under management, is pleased to announce that its portfolio company Valtris Specialty Chemicals (“Valtris” or the “Company”) has acquired Akcros Holdings Limited (“Akcros”). Valtris is a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals primarily used as additives in the production and processing of polymers, sealants, and chemical intermediates and was carved-out of Ferro Corporation by H.I.G. in December of 2014.
Akcros Chemicals is a provider of specialty chemicals used as additives in the production and processing of polymers, paint, and coatings with operations in both Europe and North America. Akcros is well known to its customers for is strong R&D capabilities, customer service orientation and breadth of product offering. Akcros has two primary manufacturing sites in Eccles, U.K. and New Brunswick, NJ with additional production capability in Mumbai, India and Guangzhou, China. The acquisition of Akcros will provide additional manufacturing capabilities, increased product breadth and a global presence helping Valtris expand as a leading global player in the polymer additives industry.

Valtris Specialty Chemicals is proud to present our new biocide product, Micro-Chek® DC 10P. DC 10P is a non-arsenic antifungal/antibacterial additive focusing on water exposure applications. DC 10’s washout resistance and slow migration rate make it well suited for marine products, bathroom enclosure caulks, pool recreation products and other applications where moisture and water immersion are a concern. Valtris Specialty Chemicals has developed a fast fusing non-phthalate plasticizer called Santicizer Platinum P1400. This plasticizer will offer all of the features and benefits of Santicizer 160 in a non-phthalate option. Valtris Specialty Chemicals has developed Therm-Chek® RC896L REACH compliant high efficiency barium/zinc heat stabilizer for use in PVC formulations. Formulators can easily develop REACH compliant PVC compounds and end use products with this new technology. This innovative product was designed to maintain the properties found in a high efficiency barium/zinc stabilizer and was formulated without Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). Therm-Chek® RC896L also features low phenol levels, low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) and does not contain BPA or BHT. This product encompasses changes in the regulatory landscape and Valtris Specialty Chemicals commitment to developing new products with chemicals that do not have implicit risks to the environment or humans.
Therm-Chek® RC896L can be used in flexible, semi-rigid, clear and opaque PVC formulations. The balance of heat stability and lubrication allow it to be used on calendaring or extrusion processing equipment. This product can also be used in applications requiring printability.
