Lankrostat products exhibit antistatic properties as well as acting as viscosity modifiers in PVC plastisols. These antistatic agents after compounding into the polymer migrate to the surface and by absorbing moisture from the air provide a conductive path to reduce accumulation of surface charge. Besides PVC Lankrostat antistatic agents are used in polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and polyurethane. When used as viscosity modifiers in PVC plastisols, Lankrostat and Lankroplast products allow use of higher filler levels or high viscosity resins with none of the disadvantages associated with flammable or volatile solvents. Some Lankrostat products become hazy liquids or freeze below 15°C but become clear on warming.
Lankrostat LA3 is a general purpose product which gives a slight reduction in heat stability and is equally effective in both reducing PVC plastisol viscosity and surface resistivity. It is not used where low volatility is required.
